New Year, New Trends

What can be said about 2020 besides “goodbye and good riddance?” In a year filled with uncertainty, there is only one thing to be sure of: life as we know it will likely never be the same. The ever-changing landscape has led to a new normal, which has had a significant influence on companies and consumers alike. These are some of the new trends that we are seeing for 2021.

1. Social Consciousness is a must. Consumers are more aware of national and international issues than ever. And they expect their favorite brands to take a stand and have similar values to theirs. Especially right now.

2. Sustainability has moved in full-time! Consumers now want the companies they support to be eco-conscious. Environmental awareness is not a trend, it’s a deepening cultural shift.

3. Automated Intelligence. More and more companies are optimizing their practices through the use of automation. Take data preparation: your people spend a disproportionate amount of time looking, assembling and cleaning data before they can do anything with it. Much of it can be done using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

4. More Door. Open floor plans will be a thing of the past, making room for closed-door concepts, aka “privacy”. Pinterest even predicts that the "cloffice" — an office within a closet — will be all the rage.

 5. Shopping will return, but….. Extensive research will be needed to better understand how the pandemic has permanently impacted consumer behavior. From marketing strategies, media and messaging to virtual industry gatherings, brands will have to embrace change.
